Website Design By:

Help Your Clients Find You On The Web

by: Allen Lifton

There are many ways to get your website noticed by your customer base and prospects.

There are also some ideas to get your website noticed without paying large sums of money to do so.

First, and most important, is to promote your website as often as possible.

You should include your website on your business cards, letterhead, and any other marketing pieces that you pass/mail out.

In addition, you should mention your website as much as possible.  Mention your site as a great reference when meeting with clients.  You should also mention your website on the voice message that people will hear while calling your office; or when they are placed on hold.

There are also a few ways to enhance the number of visitors to your website by being creative.  Phrases can make a huge difference in getting you found through different search engines.  When typing in a word to a search engine, you may end up with hundreds of thousands, if not millions of results.  Try typing in a phrase, and the results will decrease drastically; and they also become much more specific.  The more specific phrases in the text on your site will help you to be found by these searches.

It is also important to list location references on your site as well.  Mention the city/cities and states that you do business in; along with counties, communities, metro areas, etc.  If someone is out there searching for a business by geographic location, it will enhance your odds of being found by a search, if  you mention this on your site.

The biggest mistake businesses make with their websites is believing people will find it just because it is there; or the “Build it and they will come” mentality.  Most businesses invest a lot of dollars to develop their website, and then do nothing to promote it!

There are many excellent, and inexpensive ways to continually promote your website.  E-Mail marketing is a great one, as it allows for links to take the recipient right to your site.  Maybe try a contest where you direct your clients to your site to answer trivia questions, take a customer satisfaction survey, or sign up to win a prize!  Any way you can get clients or prospects to your website is a winning proposition for you.  Once they are there, they will most likely browse around to see what else may be of interest.

Your website is very important to you, and can be equally valuable to your clients. More and more business is being done on the Internet on a daily basis.  Even if the sale/order/contract, etc. is not finalized on the web, a lot of the search, and research is done.   If your clients are unable to find your site, it may result in a missed business opportunity for you!
